Best Drip-Catching Gadget EVER!!!

How many times have you been at a Church party, the school carnival or a BBQ in the park and the drips from the giant thermos of lemonade make the floor horribly sticky? I tell you, I've been to a lot of them. It always makes me crazy. I know we've put towels down and spent hours mopping but there is a better way.....

Today while I was helping to serve chili at the American Red Cross blood drive, I saw this....I know, it's a two-liter bottle cut in half with a hole in the top. But, look at what it does...
You hang it from the spigot of a giant thermos (or a coffee urn, in this case) and it catches all the drips. Isn't it fabulous? I can't wait to use this sometime.... I don't know when, but I'm going to use it for sure! (They left the bottom so it was full - kind of cut it like an L shape, I guess, with a hole on the top.)

(I love this so much that I am going to post it on my other blog AND email it to people who will have need for this, I just know they will!)

Christmas #2 - First Airplane Ride

This trip marked Christopher's first airplane ride. He LOVED it. We had two flights each direction. The first flight he sat by the window and loved looking out. The second flight we dressed him in his pajamas and he fell asleep shortly after takeoff. When we were making our descent his ears wouldn't pop and he didn't completely wake up enough to realize that I was trying to get him to drink something. He cried for a bit. Several of the people around us gave us dirty looks but one guy smiled and offered all kinds of treats to see if that would help Christopher swallow and allow his ears to pop. Of course, Christopher was not awake and wouldn't have any part of it.On the first flight on our way home Christopher fell asleep before we even left the gate (6 a.m. flight) and slept for most of it. After he woke up he kept looking out the window. It was so fun!

Christmas #1 - Asher's Blessing

The photos from our Christmas trip to Sacramento will be all out of order, but I'd rather get them up and posted than wait until I get them all organized to post. Donnie and Jennilee's son, Asher Kaiden, was blessed on Christmas Day. All the Fewkes family (including Cool Aunt Meg) were there. He slept through the whole thing and we could barely get his eyes to open for a couple of pictures.

Donnie, Jennilee and Asher - and yes, he is a cute chunk!
Grandma and Grandpa Fewkes and Asher.
All the priesthood holders in attendance participated in the blessing. Bishop Kelly Timpson (longtime friend of the family and presiding priesthood), Uncle Jake Voelckers, Donnie holding Asher, Tim Fewkes, Grandpa Tim Fewkes, Uncle Robert Fewkes, Uncle John Layton and Uncle Glen Fewkes.

Midnight Visitor

Actually, it wasn't midnight - it was about 4:55 a.m. We heard the pitter patter of tiny feet come into our bedroom. Then, a little, tiny whisper voice said, "Hey Dad, it's me, Tuffer Layton. I want to sleep with you." And in he climbed. That was the official end to my sleep, but when Christopher woke up this morning I asked him how he slept. He said, "Really well." Of course he did, he crowded me out of my spot in the bed! Gotta love the cute kid.
