Cement Slide - Tons of Pictures

Robyn heard about a cement slide in Roseville so we all went to try it out last week.  Unfortunately, it was closed so they could put up a guardrail at the top.  We tried again today and the kids LOVED it.  (The adults did, too.)  We discovered that thinner cardboard (like a cereal box) worked best.  The kids also liked sliding down on their feet and without a piece of cardboard.

Christopher - he seemed to have the right center of gravity and technique because he was the fastest.

Leslie by herself.  She was "concerned" the whole way down but broke into a HUGE smile at the bottom.

All my kids.  We will never be one of those "perfect picture" families because someone is always sticking their tongue out.

Drive in!!!

We went to the drive in to see Madagascar 3. The whole day the little kids kept calling it the "drive through theater" and the "drive way theater". It was very cute and they all had a great time.

We made butterfly cupcakes out of fruit slices and gummy worms.  They were so fun and SO easy to make.

Christopher wanted a picture with Leslie.  Unfortunately it came out blurry.

Leslie didn't quite know how to blow out the candle.

Christopher finally taught her how to do it.

The Train Adventure!

Kelly and Christopher asleep on the train

Leslie asleep on the train.  She actually only stayed on her own seat for an hour.  For the rest of the night she flipped and flopped on my lap.

Playing on the train.

Leslie did NOT watch the DVD.  She just liked to push the buttons.

Our train

Arriving in Sacramento.  We were all tired and dirty after so long on the train.

San Francisco 2012

We are in Sacramento for a visit before moving to Colorado.  On Friday we went to San Francisco and saw all of my favorite tourist sites.  I love that town.  The weather could not have been more perfect and the kids were great tourists/travelers.

First stop, Grandpa's boat.  JJ and Grandpa and my nephew, Cameron, slept on the boat that night.

Second stop was the crookedest street in the world... Lombard Street.  San Fran was PACKED with tourists so we didn't get out of the car.  I just snapped this picture as we kept on going.
We parked in China Town and went to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory.  YUM!

Inside the factory - the little girl in front was just pulling flat cookies off the cookie maker but the two ladies behind were putting fortunes in and folding them.
Then we went to a souvenir shop in China Town to buy some trinkets.
Next we drove to the ocean and parked.  This was the start of our walk to Fisherman's Wharf (pier 39).  Alcatraz is in the background.

We walked to Ghiradelli Square to see the chocolate being made and try some yummy free samples.

Down to Fisherman's Wharf.

On our way back to the car we stopped and watched a tourist fishing boat come in.  They charged $115 for a day of fishing (6 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and then $5 at the end to weigh your fish.  Most of the salmon were at least 15 pounds.

Posing with some pirate statues.
Christopher wanted a picture with this skeleton pirate.  We also took one with the phone and sent it to John.

Posing by the public beach right on the wharf.  The Golden Gate Bridge is in the background.

Christopher touching the Pacific Ocean for the first time.

Next we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge and stopped on the other side to get this picture of JJ and Kelly.  San Francisco is in the background.  (Chris didn't want to get out of the car and Leslie was asleep.)

Our last stop before going to Tim and Karen's in San Mateo was a beach.  We got out to play for a bit.

Leslie and Grandpa Fewkes on the beach.

Just playing on the beach.

Leslie loved getting her feet wet.  The water was so cold.

Christopher was FILTHY.  He had sand and water up to his knees.

Cleaning off to get in the car.
